Off-road and off-grid camping is growing fast, and for good reason! More campers are looking for freedom, fewer crowds, and the chance to spend more time outside without being tied to a campground hookup.
That is exactly where the 2027 Customized Modern Buggy 12LRK comes in.
This lightweight camper starts with a proven Modern Buggy platform and has been completely customized by the team at 62 Sales in Charlestown, Indiana. The result is a compact, capable, adventure-ready camper designed for real-world camping, not just the occasional weekend at a full-service campground.

Built on a Proven Modern Buggy Platform
At 62 Sales, we start with proven platforms from Modern Buggy and TLRV, then push them further. Our goal is simple: create campers that are clean, capable, and purpose-driven for the way real people travel.
The Modern Buggy Little Buggy 12LRK is already a strong foundation for adventure. It weighs approximately 1,575 pounds, measures 14 feet 8 inches long, and is 83 inches wide. With up to 14 inches of ground clearance, ST235-75R15 all-terrain tires, torsion axle suspension, and a 2,200-pound torsion axle, it is ready to explore beyond the pavement.
The construction is equally important. The 12LRK features:
- A custom steel frame
- No-wood AZDEL walls
- No-wood composite Vixenite flooring
- A one-piece AZDEL-backed fiberglass roof and interior ceiling
- A covered underbelly
- A tire carrier with spare tire
- A roof rack and front aluminum storage box
This combination keeps the camper lightweight while adding the durability and moisture resistance that matter when you are traveling through changing weather and rougher conditions.
That is the heart of a great off grid camper: less weight, smart construction, and the ability to bring useful capability without turning your trailer into a second house.
The 62 Sales Custom Upfits
The biggest story behind this build is not just the Modern Buggy platform. It is what 62 Sales added to make the camper more practical for extended off-grid use.
Oversized Front Aluminum Toolbox
The customized 12LRK includes an oversized front aluminum toolbox designed with future upgrades in mind. It is prepped for solar expansion and additional battery storage, giving the owner room to grow the electrical system as their camping style develops.
That kind of planning matters. A first off-grid trip may require basic lighting, charging, and refrigeration. Later, you may want more battery capacity or additional solar support. Building in expansion space from the beginning makes those future upgrades easier.
Custom 180-Degree Batwing Awning
A compact camper should not mean a cramped campsite. The custom 180-degree batwing-style awning creates a larger outdoor living area beside the 12LRK, with integrated LED lighting for evenings around camp.
This is where the “getting back to basics” idea really comes alive. Instead of spending your time managing a massive rig, you can open the awning, set up a chair, prepare a meal, and enjoy the woods, the trail, or the shoreline.
Simple. Comfortable. Unforgettable!
Full Outdoor Shower System
The custom build also includes a full outdoor shower system with a privacy changing surround and pass-through access into the cabin.
Whether you are rinsing off after a muddy trail, cleaning up after a day on the water, or simply wanting more flexibility at a remote campsite, an outdoor shower can make a major difference. The privacy surround gives you a dedicated changing area without taking up valuable interior space.
Expanded Front-Mounted Aluminum Water Tank
Water is one of the most important resources when camping away from hookups. This 12LRK has an expanded front-mounted aluminum water tank to support longer stays and more flexible campsite choices.
The standard platform includes an 11-gallon fresh water tank, while the customized water setup is designed around the owner’s real-world travel needs. More usable water capacity means more freedom to explore before searching for the next fill station.
Available LP and Tankless Water Heater Upgrade
For campers who want added comfort off-grid, 62 Sales also offers an available LP upgrade with a tankless on-demand water heater.
Want hot water after a long day outside? This option can make remote camping more comfortable while preserving the compact, efficient spirit of the camper. As with all custom options, availability and pricing should be confirmed directly with 62 Sales.
Full Pre-Delivery Inspection
Every custom build deserves more than a quick glance before delivery. The 62 Sales team completes a full pre-delivery inspection and verification to check the fitment, wiring, systems, and upgrades before the camper leaves the lot.
We do not just customize campers. We walk owners through them, too. You should understand how your solar system, water system, electrical outlets, ventilation, storage, and other features work before heading out on your first adventure.
A Lightweight Camper Designed for Real Camping
Inside, the Modern Buggy 12LRK makes smart use of every inch.
The rear galley includes a stainless steel sink and faucet, an LG HI-MACS acrylic solid surface countertop with integrated sink, three enclosed storage cabinets, weatherproof exterior cabinetry, and a custom multi-function cabinet door that doubles as a cutting board.
A lock-in/lock-out 12V cooler/freezer on slides keeps food and drinks accessible from the galley. The camper also includes an outside shower or spray port, USB and 12V outlets, LED lighting, and two galley dome lights.
For sleeping, the convertible sofa becomes a 6-inch memory foam bed. The 12LRK has a bed size of 58 by 80 inches and can sleep up to four, depending on the selected sleeping setup and accessories.
Additional comfort features include:
- A fireplace
- HD TV with antenna
- Dual entry cabin doors
- A dual-direction four-speed reversible vent fan
- A 2-inch rear hitch receiver
- A front aluminum storage box
- A roof rack
The overall height is approximately 75 to 78 inches, with a 16-inch hitch height, 2-inch ball coupler, and 14 inches of ground clearance.
Solar Power for More Off-Grid Freedom
The 12LRK includes a 200W flex solar system with a 12-foot tethered solar blanket, along with a battery system and USB/12V outlets.
Solar will not eliminate every limitation of off-grid camping, but it can help you stay comfortable and connected without plugging into a campground pedestal. You can charge devices, operate lights, support the 12V cooler/freezer, and spend more time away from traditional campgrounds when your system is properly managed.
The oversized toolbox and planned battery expansion are especially valuable for campers who want to improve their setup over time.
That is one reason small, simple campers are becoming so popular. You bring what you need, use your systems thoughtfully, and spend less time managing the camper itself. More time outdoors. More time around the fire. More time on the open road!
Why Customize with 62 Sales?
A factory camper can be a great starting point. But every camper travels differently.
Some owners spend most of their time on forest roads. Others prioritize water capacity, outdoor showers, solar storage, cooking space, or extended stays away from hookups. At 62 Sales, we customize around how the owner actually plans to travel.
We are a family-owned dealership in Southern Indiana, not a big national chain. That means you can talk with real people who know the campers, understand the upgrades, and are available when questions come up.
Have a question after your walk-through? Need help understanding a system? We are just a call or text away, even after hours!
